Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
